A guided walk with Elaine Wein
* The IBM Club Member prices are available to the IBM Club Member AND their spouse/partner OR one other accompanied adult guest. If additional places are available then up to two non-members can attend at the Non-Club member price.
Chelsea is very much London's bohemian village and the epicentre of the City in the Swinging Sixties. Starting at Sloane Square, we will discover its picturesque squares and mews and walk in the footsteps of famous figures from Oscar Wilde to Mick Jagger. We will see where Bram Stoker came to breathe life into his infamous figure Dracula, Christopher Wren's Royal Hospital, one of London's finest secular buildings and the home of our famous Chelsea Pensioners and the second oldest botanic garden in the country. Strolling along by the river, we will see where Thomas More & Henry VIII lived and worshipped and the house where Dante Gabrielle Rossetti's bohemian lifestyle both outraged and frustrated his neighbours. Finally, we will learn why Dolly Birds dressed in tight fitting purple cat-suits shocked the neighbours.
Meeting Point: 11:00 AM at Sloane Square Tube Station - Exit 1 by the kiosk. The walk will finish at Chelsea Town Hall, a 15 minute walk or 5 minute bus ride back to Sloane Square Tube Station.
* These prices are available to registered IBM Club Members (member + spouse or nominated guest + members children under the age of 18 as long as they accompanied by the IBM Club Member). If places are available then non-members will be permitted to attend but ONLY at the stated Non member (Normal) prices.
